Some of the best barbecue I have ever had in my life. The ribs and chicken dinner is by far the most out of this world plate you'll have amidst the other American and southern BBQ joints here in South Florida. I've never been disappointed. From stuffed mushrooms and hush puppies appetizers to a bread pudding dessert, this place simply has it all. In all the places I've eaten ribs, and that number is well in the 50+, I can say they're definitely in my top 5. The sauce choices are more than you'll ever need and you'll never walk away dissatisfied or without having to undo a button or two. Well worth the money and the time. If you find yourself down south go and grab a plate. One of the few places I didn't mind not having a drink at to accompany my meal because it would only detract from the food.

The finest Barbecue in Homestead since 1950. Worth driving to for a meal or certainly an easy stop to and from the Keys (Get off the turnpike and head to South Dixie Highway and 280th Street). Everything is authentic and awesome! An old rustic spot in Miami's bedroom Agriculture/horse country. A must see and eat for all...natives or tourists or aliens seeking South Florida's finest! Giddy-up...

I have a serious love affair with good BBQ and Shivers is a finger licking heaven! South Florida doesn't have a BBQ culture like they do in the real south, but this place is seriously AMAZING! It's picnic tables, wood cabin, laid back allure gives his place a whole lot of southern country charm. No wonder people haven't stopped "piggin' out" since 1950... its down right delicious! So what's good? Well everything really, but I would highly recommend getting my fave plates which will leave your palate wanting more. ~Fried Corn is juicy, buttery and just what the doctor ALWAYS prescribes! ~Baby Back Ribs is the BEST hands down! Pull up your sleeves and go to town... these ribs are tender, fall right off the bone and are juicy with every bite! This is the kinda stuff that makes vegetarians become carnivores!! ~Pulled Pork and sauces are outstanding! ~BBQ Beans. I am not a beany (bean eater), but these beans are out of this world! ~Sweet Potato Souffle is savory and sweet! ~Cornbread Souffle is just INCREDIBLE! You can't have BBQ without cornbread! Shivers is downright country, so don't expect a fancy dining experience. Service is always great and pretty quick! Food is fresh (yep, the little farm piggies and cows are right down the street). This is the BBQ mecca of SoFlo!!!

We came here more than 30 years ago already - when the house was standing alone along the highway - and we try to get back there as often as we can for the excellent and tasty baby back ribs. It's more difficult to find it now with the overbuilt area nowadays, but you smell it when you get near Shivers! The hickory smoke tells you you have arrived. The place has not changed over decades and it is always busy with a lot of friendly patrons - apparently mostly locals - and also the excellent food and the size of the portions has not changed over all those years. Staff is very efficient and remains calm and friendly even with a frenzy of lunch-time custormers wanted to be servedd all at the same time. And all this at an unbeatable prize/value ratio for the quality you get. Shivers is the place to come back to again and again.

This is the only restaurant I know that serves Beef Ribs. Of course they have baby backs but the beef is "oh so good." This is a down home place that has stood at the same location since 1950. In this town, if you last that long, you know it's great. The menu includes everything one would expect from a BBQ joint but also, fried okra, collards, jumbo hot wings, fried Mac 'n Cheese, fried green tomatoes, BBQ pork skins and fried pickle chips. My very favorite side is the fried corn on the cob. The frying brings out the sweetness and tastes like candy. I have been eating here since 1970 and have never had anything but a consistently great meal. It's a must in Miami. The restaurant is located literally halfway between South Miami and Homestead straight down US 1 South.

We came down to Homestead to visit a friend. She recommended Shiver's and said it was really good. We decided to give it a try. Let me just start by saying ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I've had barbecue in many places and this is by far one of the best I've had in years! We ordered 2 full racks of baby back ribs and a half chicken. We got the mashed potatoes and bbq beans. With corn on the cob on the side. The corn on the cob was regular. Nothing special. The bbq beans were ok as well. Now to get to the great stuff... The baby back ribs were absolutely delicious!! The mashed potatoes and gravy were super delicious as well. Some of the best I've ever had. My daughter is super picky and always skips the gravy on the mashed potatoes and only eats the ribs from one other establishment. She really liked their ribs and mashed potatoes with gravy. She even commented on how delicious they were. The chicken was delicious as well. Needless to say we stuffed our faces with no regrets. It was excellent! To be honest we came down to Homestead the next day to visit our friend again and wound up ordering Shivers again! We weren't at all sorry. We got the corn nuggets this time! Spectacular! I recommend you check this place out.
